If you want do to combine kayaking and camping ask the kayak-company if they can organise some of your stuff to be brought to you when they pick-up the kayaks. When we did our trip this was no problem and it was quite comfortable.

The Abel Tasman Coastal Track is one of the Great Walks and in the summer month you have to book a place in the huts. In winter you don´t have to pre-book, just take the hut-passes with you and leave them at the huts!!

You can find more information about the track and booking on the official website of the department of conservation: http://www.doc.govt.nz/Explore/
